Coreweave: AI Cash Cow or The Next WeWork?
Hey everyone,
I hope all is well!
Coreweave’s IPO Test
Tomorrow Coreweave will IPO and we recorded a deepdive on Coreweave. It's an AI cloud service provider that started as a crypto miner then found god and became an AI cloud service provider. We dived into the company's history, business model, financials, strengths, and weaknesses. The company’s financials look pretty shakey so it will be interesting to see how wallstreet reacts to it.
The state state of Apple’s AI plans.
One would wonder if Steve Jobs were in charge, what would be happening now. In our recent episode, Joe and I mentioned that Apple will only get serious about AI once they start reorging. Well, a day later, they decided to change the executive in charge of Siri and AI. But they replaced him with the person leading Vision Pro, which makes me scratch my head.
Elon’s Hands Are Off The Wheel
I then did a deep dive into Elon’s craziness and made a historical comparison to other CEOs who’ve gone off the deep end politically, and what it meant for their companies. This at least provides a framework to understand how bad Elon’s moves have been for Tesla—if not the country.
Finally, we reacted to CEO chatter about AGI this and AGI that, but now magically timelines are being pushed back. I, for one, have never been a fan of people trying to predict the future. What I try to focus on is: of the systems we have now, how many are doing economically viable work? We are seeing signs of value being generated with human-in-the-loop AI (like using ChatGPT for projects), but as far as fully autonomous AI agents—we're not there yet. Doesn’t mean we won’t get there, but CEOs need to relax with the AGI hype.
Cheers,
Jordan
